My son is 5 years old and I had a tough time getting him to leave! His highlight was the 4 story climbing maze. We also both loved the touch pad floor on the second level. Lots of exercise for the body and mind. We visit Boston once a year and we always make it to the museum.

A perfect place for Children! The exhibitions are all interactive, and range from fiction to technology! Best for children 13 and under! There a many whimsical displays of Boston native writers, artists, athletes, as well as immigrant settlers culture. A great place to spend the day! Patrons are allowed reentry if they leave the premisses, which works well for meal breaks! The food options are limited, and no food/beverages are allowed out of the food court! Parking is expensive, and personal vehicle commute is not recommended.

We spend a whole day here but couldn't finish the entire museum!! Many different play rooms with different themes and ideas - my son was excited at all of them! There is also a room dedicated to small children up to 3 years old and an authentic Japanese house from Kyoto to explore. Really enjoyed it!

A very wonderful place for children. It's been around for decades and they have done an excellent job over the years keeping it clean, updated, relevant, and fun! The staff there is excellent, really great, polite, and articulate people. I have visited place with my kids for the past 20 years and was never disappointed once. That's hard to do for any organization.
Your kids will learn things and have fun while learning and playing there. One of my top picks for families with children under 12 years of age. Lots of things to do there. Even their gift shop is really nice. The gift shop is slightly overpriced but that should be expected because it is a gift shop and not a shop in your local mall. But they have nearly everything covered for just about any kid.
The only downside if I had to really search hard for one is the parking problem. It's street parking and sometimes paid metered parking or you can find a paid parking lot or garage nearby. The city street parking ticketing can be aggressive, so pay strict attention to your parking time. Also you can take the T (MBTA) Red Line train to South station and walk a half mile to the Children's Museum. The T is your best bet mode of travel to get there in my opinion, because you can rest your mind and focus on the fun with your kids.
You can park free on the street only on Sunday and Holidays, but read ALL locally posted parking signs because some restrictions may apply even on those days too in certain areas, and on certain events, or holidays.

A very fun place for children and adults alike. There are so many wonderful things to learn here and do with your kids. The place is also great for adults reliving their childhood with Arthur and friends and the magic school bus. I didn't know that Arthur was shot in Boston studios and it was a cool fact to know. Time well spent with children.
