The hotel itself was very nice. My TV did not work...not a huge deal. Printer did not work at check out for my bill. The people surrounding the hotel were awful. Homeless, drug addicts ,I felt very unsafe walking into the hotel alone. Then was asked to go back out to hang a tag on my car for parking. Police, fire and ambulance we're there to pick up a person who overdosed in the parking lot. Woman running around for a few hours yelling and screaming trying to crawl under customers cars. I think security should be present at all times to make your customers feel safe. Hotel was lovely unfortunately the surroundings were not

A fast and pleasant check-in during the early morning hours. We entered a clean room on the fourth floor and I instantly noticed a sign apologizing for potential noise and earplugs by the bed; 'odd' was the first thought that popped into my head, but a nice thought on the hotel's part. Toward the evening hours I found out just why these are complimentary- though truth be told unless you're an incredibly light sleeper the sound of distant sirens and the occasional yelling of whoever outside shouldn't quite bother/awaken you.
Using this time to speak of the hotel itself, it's kept in pretty decent shape. Had one evening where it took the hot water just a bit longer than usual to kick in, but nothing horrible and what might happen at your own house. The complimentary breakfast in the mornings is great and I can't speak on the cookies that are given out at 5:30pm. The in-room coffee makers, or at least the one in my room, could use a cleaning. While I didn't experience it, the fitness center seems decent enough and I saw a good number of people going to and from. I will say that the employees are amazing- one in particular during the evening hours of 10/21 actually gave my fiancee money from her own pocket for a soda from the vending machine because she couldn't break a $20 for her from the register. Sadly, I cannot speak on the housekeeping in part to having the Do Not Disturb placard on the door at all times, but given the room I initially walked into, it does seem that they do a very good job.
The hotel itself is situated in an area I'll describe with the following word: interesting. To me, it's nothing different than where I grew up, but to others it might be a bit of a shock as I saw with some new arrivals after sundown. The area is referred to as "methadone mile" by the locals due to the clinics nearby. This of course brings some- using our word again- interesting characters during the evening hours. I'll let your imagination and reading of other reviews figure out just where I'm going with that. To be honest, nobody will bother you for anything more than a cigarette if you're smoking one or maybe a dollar- say no (or give whatever) and they'll be on their merry way. Honestly the "worst" of it is well across the street and Boston PD is usually floating around here and there. Unless you go looking for trouble, odds are none will come your way.
Is it the best area? No. Is it the worst? No. Is the hotel great otherwise? Yes. Can I recommend this hotel? Yes. And the price is probably way more sane than you'll find in the heart of the city.

Staff is exceptional. Always eager to help and answer any questions. Room was spacious and well maintained. The only downside is the location. Hotels free shuttle only goes every hour and a half to the subway station. More frequent would help greatly.

Service was excellent. The bed was super comfortable. My room was very clean. I stayed in one of the king suites and the furnishings were very nice. The continental breakfast offered more choices than most and the food quality was good. Parking is free and the room rates are very good for Boston. The only drawback is the neighborhood is a little sketchy but the staff really work hard on maintaining safety. They have a shuttle service which is super convenient. Overall great place, I've stayed here a few times per year for the last 15 years and will definitely stay again.

While the staff that I encountered during my stay were very nice (the breakfast staff were awesome!!!), I do have to admit that the neighborhood wasn’t the best location. All the other reviews I’ve read were absolutely correct. There were prostitutes, drug dealers, drug addicted shooting up in plain view, and the the parking was very, very, very limited, and right in the middle of all the above named situations. This really needs to be taken care of. The reviews would be much better if the hotel surroundings change. Our room was amazing. Very home like. I did enjoy my stay.
