I ordered to go, so I can't speak on the dine-in experience. I can say that my food was ready when I got there. The wings were awesome, exactly how the menu described them: sweet and salty. The coconut shrimp tacos were spectacular. I'm happy I ordered from them.

The drinks are fantastic, and the beer selection is stocked with a good mix of eclectics and local favorites. The lunch and dinner menus are excellent, if a bit pricey for Baton Rouge. The mac+cheese is delicious, and the tacos (along with pretty much everything else) will surprise you with how well prepared it is.
There are a lot of great places to eat in Baton Rouge however. What makes Merchant awesome is their brunch. It's a good deal (although they have raised prices in the last year- prior to that the honey cheddar chicken biscuit was simply the best brunch deal in BR) and the Bloody Marys/ Mimosas are well made. The patio is gorgeous in good weather. Definitely check them out for brunch or a few well crafted cocktails before heading out to the bars.

I've only been here once, but I was thoroughly impressed. The service was great and the atmosphere of the place was cozy. Overpass Merchant makes the best burger I have ever had, and I will definitely be going back soon.

Went for brunch and got the burger. It was delicious! The menu is small and kind of not what I expected. The drinks were small and overpriced. The staff seemed overwhelmed. We had 2 different people serving our table and we had an order come out wrong, the wrong drinks delivered to our table, etc. I would still go back because the burger was awesome.

The Chicken Fried Chicken lunch on Tues was great comfort food. Flavorful boneless chicken with a crispy/crunchy batter and a savory brown gravy over creamy mashed potatoes. Seriously though...that gravy. 😎
There were green beans under the chicken too, but they hadn't been de-stemmed and biting into them did disrupt the overall experience. I feel uncomfortable having to take something out of my mouth during a business luncheon.
The service was prompt, food came out in a timely manner, and prices were fair.
Oh, the fried cheese curds had a thin crunchy outside and warm, gooey inside. Texture and flavor were great. Just what I had hoped.
I will definitely return.
