Food is great and the outdoor patio is really nice with the large Live Oak as the center feature. Servers are always knowledgeable and friendly.

I love Parkside and Backspace and have heard wonderful things about O&J, and it was a great surprise weekday "fancy" date. The cocktails and food were excellent (as long as you don't care about money) and it seems like it'd be a great venue to rent out.
That being said, there is some weird stuff going on with the staff here. I've worked service industry for many years in Austin, and have known several people who have worked at parkside and backspace and loved it, but there is some weird underlying snark and cynicism with the staff at O&J that only comes with a dysfunctional management situation.
Also, dirty-looking dish towels on the walls as decoration and moisture-swollen ceiling tiles with vents that leak do not make this place seem worth the plate price. This place in it's current condition is bringing down the rest of parkside projects.

Pros:
the actual taste of the food and the aesthetic of the outside area
Cons:
Our food and drinks took a ridiculously long time to come out, when our food finally did come out it was barely warm, we were left with empty water glasses for so long the table next to us got up to serve themselves water, our waitress checked on us only to place the next order, and when she wasn’t tipped well by the table next to us she complained in front of my table “I hate them.”
Overall I didn’t enjoy the experience or the service I received for the price I paid. I feel like if I went in a smaller group the experience could have been slightly better. (I had a group of 5 with a reservation).

Perhaps one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Fresh Southern Italian food served in a course-style line up. you can get as few or as many of the courses offered as your stomach or your wallet will allow, but getting something from every part of the menu is definitely worth it. The staff and chefs are also very friendly and accommodating to people with Celiac Disease and other gluten-related allergies as well. I hope to return next time I visit Austin again.

I went here with a group of friends last night for a celebration and they were genuinely excited to make this a wonderful experience. Our waitress was awesome. I would definitely recommend!! Food was fabulous as well!
