Awesome stacked enchiladas. Awesome waiter Albert. Groovy atmosphere. Will recommend this Austin icon to anyone looking for good TexMex and a cool experience

We have visited several times. Food ingredients are high quality. Service is always prompt and courteous, even when the restaurant is packed. I would highly recommend it. The best times to avoid a crowd is Saturday afternoon, or right when they open for lunch.

Festive, fun decor and the food was surprisingly decent. It feels like a colorful touristy place that is trying to milk any kind of attention. Overall the service was great and the food was good, especially the salsa.

The first time I went to this place was a few weeks after it opened. I don’t like going to new places after they open, so restaurants have time to work out any kinks in their operation. Apparently they still didn’t figure them out when I went. Our waiter was in charge of the massive room near the restrooms, so it wasn’t really his fault for being slow and unhelpful, but it was definitely poor planning on the restaurants part. The food was not very good at all. Lupe, which is just down the road, has infinity better food and atmosphere than Chuy’s any day. Overall, my visit was less than stellar, which is why I’ve decided not to return yet. Maybe in a little while longer I’ll give them another try, but as of now, no evidence shows that they have improved since my last visit. I really do t understand why people love this place so much.
