Food: Great.
Price: Reasonable.
Clean: Very.
Service: A little slow but worth it.
Best: Ceviche, creamy salsa Worst: Red Snapper
Food is fantastic. Service is always friendly but can be a little slow. They have a great creamy salsa. Highly recommend the ceviche and the quesadillas (I never order quesidallas in restaurants, I figure why order what I can make easily at home? These are the exception), and I enjoy the oyster cocktail. The first time I ate there I wouldn't order the ceviche, the description included mayonnaise, not exactly a traditional ingredient and I didn't trust any ceviche that needed mayo. My dining partner did order the ceviche though and after tasting his I called over the waitress and ordered some of my own. The mayo isn't heavy or overwhelming, it adds a nice compliment and just a little creaminess to the dish. The tacos with the beef, bacon and shrimp are rich but good and the fajitas are good as well. Having eaten there several times the only thing I wouldn't particularly recommend is the steamed snapper, I found it a little bland but I tend to enjoy a lot of flavor. As an Albuquerque native this is one of the first restaurants I take visiting friends where I know they'll get a good meal in a bright festive atmosphere. The tropical motif makes everyone who walks in the door grin. A note for visitors though, the flavors are definitely more Mexican than New Mexican, red or green aren't options for any of the menu items and even items that contain chili like the salsa are very mild but have a rich flavor that makes up for it. Food is served fresh and at the correct temperature (entrees are hot, cocktails are cold) but it isn't the best place to go if you're in a big hurry. Service isn't slow to to point of frustration, but the food is all cooked to order and can take a little time. The waitstaff is friendly but can get a little busy at peak dining. That said, you'll most likely be so busy scarfing down the chips and salsa that come when you sit down to notice or care. Enjoy.
