"Small portions," who the heck said that?!
You can get a generous plate or just the entrée (sans the just-right beans and Spanish rice sides). This is a NEW MEXICAN restaurant, and the flavors are very different from Mexican cuisine. My husband, a homegrown cowboy with blood rich in heritage from both Conquistadors and Zuni Natives, sprang from the mountains north of Grants and ate the hearty, hot RED chile; while I, a longtime transplant from back east, crave a hot (not incendiary), fresh, GREEN heavenly. Incredibly, both red and green are DELICIOUS and SATISFYING here. The sopapillas and fresh tortillas take the place of forks, just like they should.
One more personal first, I finally ordered chile rellenos. I do not like deep fried, greasy bombs so I avoided this famous dish for 30+ years that I have resided in NM. Boy! am I ever glad I tried them here! No grease, batter was light, and the handsome chiles and melted cheese were wonderful. Thank you, Bea!
What else...very reasonable prices, competent staff, and low key atmosphere make Bea's a regular part of my weekly diet. There are desserts, but I never get that far. Try Bea's for yourself and write your own review. Enjoy!

These tortilla chips take me back to my youth in El Paso. The corn is a more prominent flavor than I was used to in Portland. Salsa is fresh and mild. Price is very reasonable. Waitstaff has been helpful and nice.
