Dr. Estra is great to work with! She was very educational and talked to us for nearly an hour about how to best care for our older dog. Can't recommend this place enough!

I used to use Parkside Vet and found them to be too expensive and uncaring. I saw an advertisement for Canterbury in the Pride newsletter and decided to use them. My dog Quazzi, was in pain and walking on the front of his paws. I took him there and was led into a waiting room. My dog laid down as it was too painful for him to get up. When Dr. Estra came in she saw him on the floor and immediately got down to his level and started her examination. She determined he had arthritis and suggested a regimen of pain and arthritis medication, rather than the more expensive treatment of x-rays. She took some blood and said she would call. I thought she was kidding as I have never received a call from any Vet I have ever used.
He responded very well and within a few days was up and walking and playing with his toys. She called to find out how he was. She said his blood work came back normal and to keep on giving him his medication. She gave me enough for a month and I had just gotten a refill when Quazzi had a relapse and could no longer get up to eat and go to the bathroom. I spent several agonizing nights staying up with Quazzi because he was in so much pain. I kept giving him pain medication, but to no avail and hearing him whimper during the night brought tears to my eyes and a knife through my heart.
I decided to take him back to Canterbury for the last time. When I arrived, I was met with a gurney and both Dr. Estra and her assistant rolled Quazzi into his final resting place. Dr. Estra said he probably had a mild stroke and could no longer send signals to his extremities. I said I had spend many a night thinking about his future and knowing in my heart that this was no life for Quazzi. She assured me that he would feel no pain and would go to sleep and never wake up. I could not stay, but said my good-byes and could barely see my way home.
Within a week I received a package from Dr. Estra and inside was a caster mold of Quazzi's paw, which is now framed and hanging on my wall.
The level of compassion and dedication to her patients and their owners is outstanding. She made me feel like Quazzi was her own.
If I ever decide to get another dog, or if my cats ever need assistance, there will be no question as to where I will bring them.

You will receive true quality care at Canterbury Animal Hospital. The office is quiet and clean and there is hardly ever a wait to be put in the exam room. Dr. Estra and Staff do not push services on you. They take the time to discuss all options available. Every time I come in, they know me and my pet by name.
