We have been going to the Marcia for mid week lunch & Sunday lunch for a long time. The food is always first class. Landlord beer kept to perfection. Landlady & landlord make you feel at home & the staff just great. A lovely pub with a good size garden with a play area for kids. All you need .👍

Perhaps the best battered fish I have had in York (been here since 1998.) Great surroundings and great staff. Excellent outside area for dining - with v/ large children's play area.

Seems the managers pay their staff to post positive reviews- judging by the amount of 1 review people who say this is great when it is blatantly awful.
Used to go here every week but following some incidents with rude staff and bad food.. bad quiz also I never go anymore.
A blonde bartender was visibly mocking me with another member of staff.
The owner snubbed me when I tried to say hello to her, pretty shocking, guess I wasn't spending enough money to be worth talking to?
The quiz is a farce.. you can actually revise for it! People go in with folders of celeb's birthdays because it's about that every week.
The other owner, the man; was drunk while I was eating my bland meal.
It's really going downhill lately.. I go to the Woodman now and it's head and tails above this place.

Excellent service, food was the best we have had in the York area. Well worth going for a meal and a nice pint of beer.

We had a late breakfast after an early funeral at the nearby crematorium. It was delicious and very welcome. The pub is bright and cheerful with what looked like a good selection of beers.
