Been to this place twice with my Polish girlfriend
Barbakan has a wide range of meals on the menu from Polish to Hungarian to British.
Food is great, the staff are polite and helpful.
My advice would be to reserve a table this place gets busy in the evenings especially Friday and Saturday.

Cozy place run by friendly staff! The food is great: the portions are generous and we tried 2 polish plates and a piece of cake that tasted great.. In addition it's very cheap (we paid 20 pounds and we were so full!). Absolutely recommended

We had brunch here today and the food was absolutely fantastic. I can particularly recommend the full english breakfast. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the coffee. It was £2.20 for a small cup of black coffee that was barely half full and I wasn't given any milk.

Incredible. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to! Absolutely superb food and very friendly staff. Wonderful decor and a good menu choice! Will definitely visit again and again!

Amazing, charming looking restaurant close to York main attractions. Dining here feels like dining at a close friend's home. Lovely, welcoming staff and delicious, one-of-a-kind hearty meals. Generous portions, unique and authentic Polish dishes. Perfectly varied wine selection available. Home made desserts - recommend the scrumptious blueberry cheesecake.
