The role of Yorkshire Artspace is surely to lift communities through art. Why then, did they condone the destructive, demoralising nature of Ania' Bas's disgusting lyrics 'Rotting Heads on Parson Cross' (u-tube) Flycheese Studios? In my view it says more about the state of mind of those using public funds to this end than those of the innocent people of Parson Cross who have no idea the video exists. The lyrics are untrue, tasteless and more fitting to a schoolyard environment. So much for education.
I refer the two disliking my comments to the sentence beginning 'in my view' and assume they are in some way involved with the compilation of Ania's book. To them I reiterate the comment made in the last sentence. 'So much for education!"
14th October. 2014. Just read your 2012/13 report regarding Residency artists. It sounds impressive on paper and even gives the impression that some have helped create a better Parson Cross. However, there are those who, with the assistance of Yorkshire Artspace and SOAR, have left a lasting scar on the landscape in the form of the verse and u-tube animation 'Rotting Heads on Parson Cross'.
This will stand for years as testament to the activities of Yorkshire Artspace in the area as will the painted shutters on Margetson Crescent shops. One set has had to be removed or cleaned because the nature of the shop has changed. Two more will probably suffer the same fate as the shops have been vacated by the original tenants. The stone hearts, however, on the island by the Learning Zone, do add a little character. Just a pity they belies the sentiments so obvious in the verse 'Rotting Heads on Parson Cross.
