A proper pub, proper beer, proper eclectic mix of customers, everyone warmly welcome. Sadly shadowed by one of the awful ugly code buildings but one of the best pubs in the uk

Nice place with a theatre upstairs, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and a nice selection of local craft beer and spirits

This is my local. I love the atmosphere and they offer great selection of local and craft cider and ale. There is also a little theatre upstairs which is fast becoming popular! Although the beer garden has recently become overshadowed by student flats, so it doesn't get as much sun as it used to.

It's an old pub but it's surrounding location lets it down badly, which are terraced houses that are run down and the area is overrun with university students and all types of foreign nationals. There is a park and river near by but the general area it is in is a little unsafe, I worked on building sites there and I didn't feel safe there. There's no parking at the pub and any parking in the streets is metered and very limited. Visit this area at your own risk.

If you want a authentic old school pub that's what you find here. Always bringing in different ales ciders and beers too and if you ask nicely they will let you sample some.
