The upgraded hotel has a lovely carvery restaurant. The staff are friendly and polite. The value was exceptional.

Filthy well worn carpets' minimum cleaning to rooms.Busy hotel due to workmen staying midweek. Windows you could hardly see out for dirt. Clean bed linen and great staff get my two star rating. Needs major overhaul.

I don't expect the Ritz when paying £35 for a 3*. The hotel was well located, the room well equipped, small and not quite clean enough, but it was ok. We were using it as a stopover and it served its purpose.
However, you can expect the following from this hotel (which nobody should expect to have to deal with no matter how little they are paying):
Rude staff. The way one member of staff spoke to a guest that called the reception desk was unbelievable.
Smoke filled reception area as the staff were allowing guests to smoke at the main entrance and smoke was pouring inside.
Smokey bathroom and corridor. It's clear that people still smoke in the hotel as there were no windows to outside in our bathroom or corridor, but it still smelt strongly of new cigarette smoke.
Strong smell of marajuana in the corridor. Seems the people in the next room were smoking more than cigarettes inside their hotel room.
The place needs an overhaul as there are so many reviews stating these negatives. Smoking inside public premises is illegal so not sure how they are still operating this hotel.

No WiFi in bedroom, only in lobby/bar area. Only 6 channels on telly worked. Window didn't close properly. One bath towel between the two of us plus bathtub was dirty when we arrived.
On positive note staff were lovely. Very helpful and chatty.

After a smooth check in, I found my room to be very clean and spacious. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. My meals have been very good with plenty variety to choose from.(buffet style). Travelled here on a National Coaches Holiday and I wouldn't hesitate at staying here again.
