Great little pub worth the walk from Keswick town. Food and wine were splendid and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend after a day out walking on the fells.

Cosy pub, good food so understandably very busy at peak times. Advise to book or arrive early for table in the bar.

This review is potentially an unfair rating as we didn't get to sit and eat and experience. The reason for 2 stars is that it's not autism friendly for my wife. Too cramped and noisy. We had to leave and find somewhere else to eat. I'm sure it's great for those who don't suffer autism, since it was rammed and you needed to book, otherwise you were rammed into the front where everyone seemed happy and enjoying their meals! It had high reviews on Google, which is why we decided to go. Please don't let this review put you off going if you don't have autism! ;-) x

Fantastic place. Lovely atmosphere. Great selection of beer. Food splendid. Relaxed atmosphere. Dog friendly. Child friendly. Staff freindly.

After reading some reviews on this place we decided to stop off for Sunday lunch. The pub had a decent selection of drinks and the prices seemed reasonable for a pub in the Lakes.
The Sunday lunch left something to be desired though, contrary to what we were led to believe. I don't know if this is something to do with tradition but we didn't get any mashed potatoes (something I consider a Sunday staple) and the Yorkshire puddings weren't great either, possibly frozen. I'll admit that the meat, crackling, and gravy was lovely though.
The pub touts a beer garden with stunning views but they are mostly obscured by buildings and trees with a view fells visible.
I'd go again for a quick pint but would try elsewhere for food.
