We didn't have the chance to discover the good things here. We popped in to the pub on Thursday evening and stood at the bar whilst the four staff busied themselves. Two were serving one customer in front of us, one other was chatting, whilst one put glasses away, but we weren't acknowledged by anyone for the whole time we stood there. We were the only people waiting to be served, as others at the bar already had drinks. Never expecting to be served immediately, we waited. And waited. After a full 5 minutes of feeling completely invisible and even a bit foolish, we left. Our evening could have been so different with a friendly greeting and a 'be with you in a minute ladies'. Five minutes doesn't sound very long but without any acknowledgement at all (and a smile would have done!) it felt very much like we weren't desirable customers.

One of my favourite pubs in Edinburgh. Great decoration, fantastic pub food, good selection of drinks. Can get a busy at the weekend or for a Sports event - consider booking if you wish to eat there with a large group.

Great place for a chilled beer. As a cider lover, it breaks my heart that their selection of ciders is so limited. That aside, the ambience is great and the fish and chips are damn tasty too! Oh and it's an awesome spot to watch football games!

Zero stars is more appropriate than 1. We went in search of a nice fish and chip lunch and found our way to The Queens Arms on Frederick St. Unfortunately we didn't get to sample the fare. At the barkeeps suggestion, we walked around the place, found a table.

We watched the other 3 tables in our vicinity get served, two just about done and one getting appetizers. The tall blonde waitress was in and around but not once did she even ACKNOWLEDGE our existence. A second red headed waitress arrived with drinks for the other table and ignored us too. One more time the first waitress was back clearing dishes and she looked our way on her way out of the room. Now it had been 15-20 minutes and we left disgusted.

Found a phenomenal fish and chips, a lovely server named Clare at the Printing Press next to the Principal Hotel. Will tell every single person we see to skip the Queens Arms.

Good, buzzy pub - always has lots of people (after work and late at night). Drinks are fair price and the location is ideal in the new town. Seat yourself (sometimes seats are hard to find!) but that just speaks to the fun atmosphere and popularity. Recommend for a pint !
