Amazing atmosphere at Shore, Leith. Beverages on a reasonable price and live music every now and then. Kind and helpful staff.

Great place for a morning coffee. Friendly staff, lovely fireplace and warm decor. Will definitely be coming back. Fully recommend!

Ate hear 5 times in total, only 2 of the 5 times was there not an issue. First issue was they forgot to add chorizo onto my chicken dish (it was fine I got over it) next time I came in it wasn't busy but it took over an hour for 2 fish and chips, French toast and a Scottish breakfast, when I went to the bar to ask where the food/drink was, there was a girl in front of my complaining of not receiving all of her order and then another girl getting stuff taken off her bill. Also the mac and cheese doesn't look burnt but tastes burnt??? It's just small things like that like taking ages on our orders (even when it's not busy) and being loud and an awkward atmosphere. I've given this place so many chances and came up short every time. The staff seem nice but also at the same time they seem bored and like they just don't want to be there.
Forgot to add, we sat with our plates in front of us for 45 minutes with napkins and cutlery on it also after paying the bill and they still didn't move the plates, all while the barman played about with his radio and wandered up and down the place.

I went to the Granary for lunch recently with 4 friends, having been there once or twice before and finding it ok. This time our experience was very different. The place was far from busy, but it still took quite a while before we got served. We then had to wait over 40 minutes for our food to arrive - during this time no one came to update us on our order, and when we asked one of the staff, she just said " I'll check" and never came back. The food was merely ok when it finally did turn up. Then we had to wait ages for the bill - my friend eventually had to go up to the bar and ask for it as the staff were nowhere to be seen. We then decided to go up to the bar to pay as we'd had enough of waiting. We wanted to split the bill and pay by card, but after 10 minutes standing at the bar and being ignored, we ended up getting enough cash together between us so that we could just get out of there. What made the experience even more unpleasant was that the guy behind the bar kept throwing glass bottles and cutlery around for our entire stay, and the level of noise was pretty unbelievable, enough to make it hard to have a conversation. It's safe to say I'll visit one of the many other restaurants or bars in the area next time I'm down by the Shore.
