Great service.. Polite and helpful staff.. Cozy rooms with clean bathrooms.. World class breakfast. Enjoyed our 6 night stay at the Principal. Keep it up

What used to be the Roxburghe Hotel has been sympathetically refurbished and given a more contemporary look. There are a lot of nice touches in the main bar area and the new furnishings seem very on trend. The catering was a little basic for my tastes, being quite functional in nature, but that may have been a feature of the budget we had more than anything else.

Fab hotel. Just a lovely place with lovely touches in every way. A glorious bright light courtyard/conservatory for breakfast. And on the same square as Nicola Sturgeon's house!

I stayed with my family in The Roxburghe Hotel for 3 nights. It was my first visit to Edinburgh and this hotel literally made our stay fantastic. From the moment we arrived hotel to the last minute after checking out, we received the best service and treatment that we’ve expected from a decent hotel. All staff including bell men, receptionist, housekeepers and waiters were super friendly and always welling to help.
I knew while booking that all rooms were recently renovated and work is going on in other parts of the hotel. But we were lucky that when we arrived they just finished the work in the restaurant where they serve the breakfast and it was gorgeous. Breakfast has a decent selection plus an excellent cooked food.
Definitely, I will choose the Roxburghe hotel whenever in Edinburgh again.
