Good pools, deeper than usual for the size. A little overpriced in peak times when they limit times.
They do have a gym and sports facilities as well so it's a good central location particularly suited for university students.

Swimming lessons are fabulous. Great services however the place needs financial input from the perennial underfunding hand of Derby Circus/Council who, if it was a human, would need round the clock care. The staff are up against it.

Take the kids to the swimming lessons. Great teachers. Changing rooms are very basic

The Gala Pool is lovely, but if they ever offer you a swim in the family pool, run! There were big pieces of unidentified black gunge floating in the water on Sunday 3rd Sept 1017, a pile of used plasters in the deep end and a chipped tile midway. The changing rooms were like a horror story there was dirt, thick and creamy all the way up the toilet walls, a male attendant on duty in the womens changing rooms, the floors were filthy and the mineral deposits on both the changing room tiles and the pool itself were caked! Filthy, disgusting, just plain nasty. See for yourself.

It's run down and grubby. Enough said. Never been before and was hesitate by reviews but chose to go. Had to wait 25 minutes on arrival and the changing rooms were a disgrace. Floors not washed through and someone had walked mud and a cigarette butt in. I just felt that the staff didn't even want to be there although they were no problem. It just needs a refurb and updating and it would be brilliant. Shame. Don't bother I should of gone for a picnic/walk instead.
