Just found the Plough Inn in Rottingdean ,what a cosy place,really welcoming ,haven't eaten here but the menu looks great ,when we return ,well definitely eat there,a real find

Lovely old traditional English pub, great home cooked food, welcoming staff. Can get busy, book a table to avoid disappointment.

My girlfriend and I decided to come to The Plough Inn on the last night of our holiday. The gorgeous smell outside and the beautiful scenery lured us in and we made it top of our list to go to. It was safe to say we made an excellent selection!
The Plough Inn has a superb menu, very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The seats were nice and comfortable (which can be hard to find in a good pub) and the food was delicious. We both had cod and chips and it was truly spectacular. I would warn to people looking into coming to book in advance though as it is can be hard to get a reservation, especially on promotional nights. 10/10 would eat there again.

Normally the food is excellent at the Plough Inn and would probably rate it as a 5. On this particular occasion i could only rate the Sunday lunch as a 2. We were a table of 5 people and didn't really wait that long for the lunch to be served, maybe half an hour or so, when the meals arrived we had to send them all back as the food was cold and the yorkshire pudding was well over cooked. To be honest i think the Plough has employed a new chef, ( the meals are considerably smaller than they use to be ) two potatoes and little veg. If you wanted stuffing with your lunch you had to pay extra again. My husband had belly pork and no crackling on the top he was totally disappointed . I understand one of the waitresses resigned that day and the other was in tears. The owner/manager had to sanction the meals being replaced but did not come to our table to offer an apologies, between the 5 of us the meals and drinks came to over £130 which sadly didn't reflect this amount of money on this occasion. Will be keeping an eye on reviews for the Plough as i fear they may be in for a turbulent time and loosing customers pretty soon, which will be a shame.

To call it pub grub would be a huge understatement...it was fantastic food. Certainly the best of both worlds, great pub and fab food. And to top it all off the staff were completely on the ball. Deffinatley will be recommending to friends
