Really poor and unfriendly, stopped in to use a toilet and was shouted at by a woman who clearly had a bad day, next time a simple "customers only thank you" is enough and generally understood and accepted around the country, just treating strangers like dirt is bad business tactics, definitely know this isn't the place to go for a friendly pint with your mates

While the pub is welcoming and the staff friendly...It's propensity to stick to playing non-stop Motown music, entrenches it firmly in the 1960's.

It was like visiting a club in London or Brighton to see Geno Washington...it was of a time. But it's 50 years later...time to move on.

And I did.

I am adding this edit, following a visit to this pub last week. February 2017. I'd ordered a takeaway from a nearby restaurant and dropped into this pub, whilst the meal was prepared.

On this visit there was a 'wake' for a member of the local Irish community. Everyone was in a good mood and the atmosphere was friendly, but I witnessed at least 6 of the younger males...all under 25...who were obviously taking drugs in the toilets? Quick hand shakes, hands disappearing into pockets, hands wiping noses, or fingers rubbing nostrils...classic signs of drug users trying to act normal!!!

I speak as an ex-publican of many years. Also...they ran out of beers and were charging £4.90 for a pint of Staropramen...which was available in another pub, less than 250m away for £4.05!!! (Still overpriced though) Especially when you can buy this same beer in Bulgaria for an astonishing 83p per 500ml.

The Franklin Arms still needs lots of work on pricing, security and general appearance.
