the most shocking customer service i have ever encountered, pay the extra and book with enterprise, in particular a lady called Harriet, the most disgusting character i have ever met. ZERO customer service, how the place in running with a joke like her at the counter god even knows. AVOID THIS PLACE

Suitably impressed! Found Thrifty with an internet search for cheap car hire. They haven't been there long, as I knew the building as an auto-windscreen repair shop previously. Booked on line, paying for the rental, with the deposit and insurance waiver fee to pay on pick-up.
Friendly and competent reception, furnishing me with the usual paperwork, and a sheet of paper for me to sign showing the car only had 1/4 tank of fuel, not the normal full tank, as being busy, they'd had to get extra vehicles in quickly. I should have checked more carefully as it only had an eighth of a tank, but in the end it mattered not. The vehicle's fuel consumption was so frugal it was easy to match the original volume.
Car, an Astra 1.6 diesel, was excellent in every way. smooth silent engine, comfortable interior, well-equipped and with more than adequate performance. Served us well on a 500-mile round trip to London over two days!
The inspection on returning the vehicle was far more scrupulous than with any other renter I've used, so just as well it was immaculate when I dropped it off. And the deposit was transferred back to my account immediately!
I'd definitely recommend Thrifty, and will use them again, should the need arise!

Unwelcoming and ignorant female counter staff. Obviously hate their jobs. A disappointing representation of a company that was recommended to me. Hence to say I didn't use them.

Really impressed with Thrifty car rental Bolton. Needed a car for a few days whilst mine was at the dealers. Went online to get a price and they were the cheapest by miles. Picked it up just 2 hours after booking it online.
To my surprise they gave me a brand new Hyundai i10 - only 15 miles on the clock! Needless to say the car was brilliant, as was the friendly service from the staff there. I don't often have the need to hire a car but Thrifty will be the first place I look if I need to again in the future. Just a brilliant experience all round from start to finish.
