Very much style over substance. £25 for an afternoon tea where the option of regular tea or coffee was at extra cost!!?? Beautiful presentation and pretty little extras however very little of anything and weird tasting macaroons. The best thing was the egg mayo bun. Staff very attentive and professional. If you like pretentious and expensive for the sake of it, go for it. If you like unlimited regular tea or coffee with proper sandwiches and gorgeous cakes, try the wyevale garden centre at £15 for 2 people. Also, don't bank on being able to park nearby. It's a nightmare. Ended up in a different postcode with a 10 minute walk to the car.

After reading many very positive reviews, I had looked forward to trying the afternoon tea at the Edgbaston but on the day I found it to be very disappointing. The table we were sat at was tiny and we felt quite squished. The sandwiches were not very nice: there was a small wedge of flavourless camembert sat on an extremely hard and thick dried bread/cracker and dotted with a bit of pear puree; there was a mini-baguette with some kind of filling that was also flavourless; there was a bit of under flavoured chopped egg in a tiny brioche; there was a rather ordinary deep fried crab cake on a spoon whose handle was turned away from us so, as the cake could only be had be taking the spoon by the handle, it required quite a lot of arm gymnastics to get it off the tray and onto the dirty plate. Sweets were equally disappointing and tiny and seemed to consist mainly of pear or apple flavoured (there was no chocolate in sight save for a smear in a tiny mint flavoured macaroon) creams/purees. The server was very nice and friendly but she didn't take away the dirty plates or provide us with new cutlery between courses, which meant we had to wipe the plates/spoons with our towels and our hands got quite sticky. The scones were nice but the clotted cream and scone flavour was overwhelmed what seemed to be overly sweet store bought strawberry jam. The tea was nice as was the setting but be warned that parking was a nightmare. Overall a big disappointment and we won't be going back.

Visited The Edgbaston on two occasions now, once for drinks and once for afternoon tea. I can wholeheartedly say this is my most favourite bar ever. The drinks are delicious and beautifully presented each with their own connection to Birmingham. The afternoon tea was wonderfully presented and consisted an excellent selection of treats. To top it off the decor is fantastic and the staff are lovely.

Had afternoon tea here for mother's day with my mum and it was amazing! The whole place looks stunning and the food was delicious. Great price for what you get and a few different options, well worth it. Staff were really friendly and acccomodating and weren't rushed at all.
We both had a brilliant time and will definitely be back!

I wasn't very impressed by the afternoon tea here. The décor was really nice, however that's the best thing about it. We were a party of 5 and the food was not enough. We asked for a top up of the savoury and was told they have to check as there might not be enough. We only had 2 extra small egg mayo buns and were told we couldn't have anymore. They were also hesitant to top up our drinks of ice tea. On a plus, the scones were nice and fresh and warm. To be honest i have had many afternoon teas that were much much much better. I will not be returning here.
