When one travels, you never really know if you are going to like the hotel you booked but the minimum you expect is a comfortable bed to get a good night sleep, and good shower well then don't stay here! The mattress springs were so worn out they were stabbing my back. You need to leave the bathroom door open together with the window when you shower or else the alarm will go off....and it did! at 2am. Two choices of how you want to shower: burning your skin to get a lot of pressure or very mild with a bit of pressure.Food OK, portions small, prices high for what you get. They could do with a bit more cleanliness, everywhere was sticky. I also thought it was far from the city centre. Views to parking. You need to call reception for heating or you'll freeze. Reception stated the hotel was going under refurbishment next year, but I have heard that before. Overall not a great experience. I left feeling tired as I wasn't able to sleep.

I love staying here. Its brilliant. Easy to find, great parking, rooms are great for the price; clean tidy and fresh.

Pro's: Very friendly helpful staff. I could do an early check in at 8 am. Food was surprisingly very good. Free parking... Even on the last day after checkout I could leave my car till end of the day. TV was good and the room and bathroom are clean although no working ventilator in the bathroom.

Cons: The room and bathroom are very tired looking and can definitely do with an upgrade. The walls are VERY thin so you can hear everything from other rooms and banging doors in the hallway. Second night drunks entering their room at 2.30am above my room and were shouting and singing for 45 minutes. No bed tables and only 2 free sockets. One beside the door and one in the corner behind the TV. The mattresses are on cheap bases with wheels. If you lean against the bed it rolls away from you. Paper coffee cups of which one was leaking.

Verdict: As good as it can get for a budget hotel. If you can pay a little more for a 3 star hotel. DO IT!

Located in a semi-industrial area so nowhere to really wander out to but a very pleasant view at the balcony along a restored canal, with a spacious terrace accessible from the spacious bar and dining area. Rooms nothing special but clean and perfectly adequate for overnight stays. Secure overnight car park and reception open 24 hours a day. Cooked to order Full English breakfast quite acceptable (if a little expensive) and contintental buffet also available. Handy location for road connections and not too far from the city centre by car. Certainly worth considering overall if you're not looking for anything too grand - the only major negative point at the time of writing was that the lift to the first and second floors was out of order, though presumably this will soon be fixed.
