A fantastic place to visit to learn about the Romans in Britain, Vindolanda is suitable for both adults and children. The nearby Roman Museum, also run by The Vindolanda Trust, is also well worth a visit. See them both in one day, but allow plenty of time to go round both.

When I saw this site on my group's itinerary, I wasn't excited about it. After my visit, I can say I was wrong, though my visit was rushed. The fort and the history behind it is exciting and educational. My only regret was our tour organizer didn't inform our dedicated tour guide how much time the group had to visit. While I appreciate the archeologist briefing our group passion and excitement for her work, it took up a lot of the group's allocated time to explore. Other than that - enjoyable visit.

Interesting Roman fort. We went on a guided tour that was very informative, but a bit too long for our seven year old. The museum has improved a lot over the years.

Excellent, informative and thought provoking. The reconstruction of the forts, the display in the museum, well everything is just brilliant. Even if you are not into history or the Romans you should still visit I'm sure you would learn something and enjoy yourself.

In typical Google fashion of asking you to review everywhere you drive past... I haven't actually been here, technically. I met my sister here to pick up my niece for the weekend. All I can offer is that the car park was nice, although lacking in bins. And the rotating barrier on the exit gate doesn't fit a buggy which was funny when my sister almost got stuck in it :) They had fun there tho so I'm lead to believe it was a good visit :)
