Nestled into the alleys at the heart of the old city, the Women's Museum is a little gem well with an hour or two away from the touristy commercialism of the souks. Established only in 2012 and not large, the Museum is an eclectic collection of artifacts and sightly glossy renditions of the modern history of Emirati women in politics, business, and society. There are also some examples of contemporary artworks by female artists, and the inevitable room dedicated to the men that have made Dubai great, with the occasional quote about loving their mothers for thematic justification. Don't miss the top floor, tough, where there's a Women's study room set aside, and a strikingly designed exhibition dedicated to Ousha Bint Khalifa, an Emirati poet. It is entirely in Arabic without translations, but it is nonetheless a beautiful space to be in. For 20Dhs entry it's a nice escape from the heat and bustle of the old city.

Great museum in a unique location. Ask for the special movie that shows the life of dubai and the role of women in the past.

For a westerner would be an opportunity to find out about the contribution of local women to society in this part of the Arab peninsula._

Mystery. I had my GPS on and was circling around the area for good two hours. Could never find the entrance. No one in the area had heard of Women's Museum. Would love to visit.

I've visited the Women's Museum in April, it was a nice visit. They have much recent and background information about the development of the women in the Emirates. The only disadvantage for me was that the women who gave the tour only gave information about the gallery on the ground flour. When I got to the other galleries I didn't got any information about what I was looking at, especially for the third floor it was a pity. The third floor was dedicated to a female poet with only arabic texts and without any English translation.
