Normally we would not even consider Thai restaurants inside leading hotels in Bangkok. Dishes are prepared for western palette. Not only are they unauthentic, but most of the subtle nuances of traditional Thai dishes are banished in the belief that they would turn western diners off.
Because the Bangkok traffic jam has gotten so bad and so intolerable, we did not want to spend hours stuck in traffic just for a meal. So our host chose this restaurant. Our host being a very knowledgeable Thai gourmet, who has instructed me on the glories of Thai cuisine, was also under some misgivings. But the food turned out to be excellent even by Thai standards.
Thai people still would not come here because they can get the same or better Thai cooking outside of tourist environments, and the price is a big deal. Why pay double or triple? Well, you pay this amount for the tranquitiy of the restaurant, excellent service to international standards, and cleaniness. Interior decorations and service at authentic Thai restaurants outside are not their strong points.

Very atmospheric and great for evening drinks. The food is also good and surprisingly cheap.

Very good food but expensive. Great service by English speaking staff.
A lot of attention is given to the presentation of the food without compromising on the quality or quantity. For an authentic upscale dinner this is a great location.
