The location is good, but that’s the only good thing about this hotel. It sure is not 4 star in terms of rooms nor service, but in cost it is. They claim free breakfast but watch out, they charge extra! And the spread is bare to say the least. Overall, poor!

Excellent view from hotel overlooking the Rhine. Hotel room was clean and comfortable, and hotel staff were very helpful. We were given a free tram/bus pass throughout our stay there. A nice gesture.

Good hotel, minibar (no alcohol) is included. Great view for some rooms. Not cheap, though.

Hotel Merian is a sophisticated hotel with incredible views over the Rhine and Grossbasel. Breakfast is delicious, staff is really friendly and helpful, and the hotel is a great choice for a stay in Basel.
