One of the most important places in Kandy. As this place carries a tooth of Lord Buddha this is more important to Buddhist people. Yet this is in the 1st place among the tourist attraction places. There are daily pooja and anyone can participate it. Moreover, if you visit this place during the perahara season, this place seem to be very colourful. 💗

A beautiful temple carrying the tooth of the Buddha, and named after it. One of the main attractions of Kandy, along the Bogambara lake, and a must see. A guide is helpful to understand more about the temple. One thing to remember is that you will not be allowed inside if you're wearing shorts, or sleeveless tees, and they must be covered for both men and women.

Lovely place to visit and look around. We went I'm the evening which was very atmospheric seeing the cancels all lit was moving. When ever you go make sure it's during the opening of the doors to see the tooth relic. This happens twice a day morning and evening times are well published. There is the normally scrum to get a view and a squash to get up the stairs with lots of people wanting to view and give offerings. Be prepared for some standing around and being herded in ques but well worth it for the history, and significance of the site

The Sri Dalada Maligawa or The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is one of most important sacred place for buddhists. It was built within the royal palace complex with amazing architectural designs, marvelous wall painting and awesome sculpture . Really interesting if you could attend early morning very first " තේවාව " at around 5.45 AM and could consecrate milk rice. Also could worship tooth relic. Better if you could bring and offer White Roses . Only white roses will use for wash tooth relic !! නමෝ බුදධාය!!

We loved our visit to the temple. Although busy with both tourists and locals we had a guide that easily maneuvered us past several of the queues. He also had some nice anecdotes and stories to share. The temple as a whole is impressive with all the art work and colors. I would suggest paying the 1500-2000 for a guide it makes it a better experience although they do tend to rush you a bit.
