Fantastic art on display. Features the 32 SA Railways commission paintings by JH Pierneef. One of the largest bodies of work in one collection by this iconic artist. Also mayor works by Maggie Laubsher and Irma Stern and other classic South African artists who were personal friends of the Rupert's.

Fantastic art and professionally managed setting. I found the security somewhat intimidating and strict but besides that I had a very pleasant experience. Currently holding exhibitions with key works by Albert Adams and an entire hall dedicated to Pierneef' s Johannesburg Railway Station panels. Furthermore, some gorgeous pieces on permanent display by Stern, Weltz, Higgs, Laubser and Van Wouw. The setting, level of professionalism and quality of the art make this the best art experience in Stellenbosch.

Wonderful museum with a very interesting and beautiful collection of South African artworks. I was the only one there for 2 hours. Its quiet with lots of bench
space to sit and ponder.
