January 2017: Excellent, hard to beat!
Restaurant Farid is without a doubt the best restaurant I've had the chance to visit in a very long time. I honestly can't remember the last time I had such tasty and delicious food in a beautiful environment with 5* service and 3* price.
Consistency: I went to the restaurant 5 times in 5 days and every aspect I mentioned above was consistently EXCELLENT.
I ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and each time, every single aspect was flawless.
I love Lebanese food so I only ordered from that portion of the menu. Best Lebanese food I've had in decades, probably the best one so far. The price is more than reasonable for what they offer and generally speaking as well.
I definitely recommended Farid restaurant if you are visiting Dakar, it's a must.

Good Lebanese option in Dakar. I really recommend the fatteh.

Having seen the great ratings of this place, we were disappointed by our experience. My wife and I recently went on a date night at Restaurant Farid, but will not be in a rush back.
On the plus side, the falafel is indeed good, and the humus not bad either. The restaurant has a decent ambiance as well, especially on the terrace.
However, there were at least a couple of things that left us disappointed.
First, the food. Outside the falafel and humus, the rest of the food we got was below par. As first timers, we asked the waiter what was the best dish on the menu and he recommended the "Fish Free Style" which was advertised as a whole thioff, boneless. Not only was it full of bones, but the meat was dry, tough and didn't taste good. The manager reassured us the fish was fresh that day, so we assume it was overcooked.
Second, the wine. The inside covers of the leather bound menu are beautiful maps of the bordeaux region in france giving the impression that the restaurant takes its wine seriously. We ordered a bottle of Red Syrah for 7600 FCFA and were disappointed to find it was a sub standard bottle you can get at CityDia for 3090. So we changed our order to a Sauvignon Blanc for over 9,000 and it was a bottle from the same cheap label which you can buy for 2900 at CityDia. Very disappointing!

Delicious meal, quiet with relaxing ambiance. Plan to spend a few hours if you order the Lebanese Specialty menu... Not something you want to rush through!!
