had portuguese food for last 4 days and decided to change it up a little and so ended up with indian food! they looked pretty decent and the servers were well mannered and professional.
we ordered (as highly recommended by them) the balti curry with lamb, the lamb shashlik, chicken piru for starter. the mains came with basmati rice and a garlic naan.
first up was the starter and it was really tasty. the chicken came in indian wrap(they translate this dish as a sandwich) and the sauce was da bomb. great start.
however we had to wait an eternity for our mains..wonder what went wrong, when the next table came later, got served, settled the bill while we were still waiting for our mains. had to call for their attention before we were served.
the curry and shashlik was not bad but certainly nowhere near the best i had(in london and singapore). the lamb was on the tougher side..a little chewy. the curry itself was not bad though. however we were surprised at how “unspicy” the dishes were. being from southeast asia..we were highly adapted to spicy food. i enquired about their level of spiciness and was told i could choose from mild, medium or hot. he warned me that hot was no joke. assuming that his standard was that comparable to actual india indian levels, we decided to go for 1 mild and 1 medium. turns out that(in our opinion)..mild is sweet..yes sweet! medium is just not sweet. for sure the dishes are tailored to european taste buds i believe. so i recommend those who are able to appreciate spicy food to go for hot.
in conclusion, the restaurant was able to offer a good alternative to portuguese/european food and in general quite tasty stuffs. pleasant staffs too but perhaps a little under staffed.

Very close to Funchal Marina. By walk 8 mins max. Street sitting available. Food is good. Staffs are hospitable :)

Thankful to find a restaurant with non-portuguese menu on Madeira, we had a good Indian meal here.

Well seasoned food that tastes good, was thrown at question on how hot I would like it as I am used to dishes having own heat level, but would allow for trying a traditionally hot and spicy dish at lower heat. All meals appeared to include boiled rice unless another style requested.
