We went here on a recommendation. The staff we could see were busy when we arrived, but we didn't wait long to be seen to.
We were seated and given menus and water quite quickly but left for a wee bit too long before our order was taken. Hubby opted for the piri piri squid to start, I wasn't going to have anything then the waiter persuaded us to share a garlic bread as there was a sauce with the squid.
We could see other tables around us having bread and butter, and thought it must have been ordered, but no everyone got that, except us.
Hubby loved the squid and it was nice and spicy. Our garlic bread did not arrive.
I ordered parmesan steak, very well done and hubby had sea bream. Both were absolutely delicious and came with lots of veg, my steak was excellent, I don't often get that as well done seems to scare a lot of chefs!.
We could not manage a dessert, unfortunately because the cassata looked and sounded great.
We had a nice bottle of wine and 2 bottles of water and hubby had a coffee. All for €65, very good value despite the slight slip ups. We would recommend this restaurant.

Lovely restaurant. Best most friendly staff I’ve ever experienced. Great fresh fish cooked simply. Highly recommended

Poor value for money. Friendly service but had to wait a long time to be served and for our meal. Possibly under staffed but won't be returning

Had a lot of good choices around but ended up coming here twice after the first visit impressed so much! Great service with incredibly welcoming and friendly people and some amazing food. Full of comfort a must try!

We visited twice. Both amazing experiences. Food was incredible, fish, rice & meat were all very good. Although, i'm not a wine expert, wines were awesome. Great owners...visited our table regularly, kept us very happy. This is what make visiting Funchal great.
