Centrally located. Very clean. Good buffet breakfast. Staff pleasant and helpful. Bedrooms need modernised. No air conditioning but a ceiling fan. Comfortable.

Hotel lacked basic facilities like Tea & Coffee Making in Room.
Pool Area access inappropriate for persons with a Disability. Also pool inaccessible for a Disabled Person.
I got eaten alive by Mosquito Bites in the bedroom.
In the Bar Area we had 2 drinks each night & the Waiter had 2 wash the glasses each time.
A Modern Day Fawlty Towers.

Very central for Funchal. Rooms are fairly basic but clean and tidy.

It's a bit outdated, but if you respect this as a 60s theme/setting, then Do Carmo is your place to be. Everyone is really generous, kind, welcoming and all can be arranged! Your room is very well cleaned, everyday. Even if you leave your pyjamas unfolded next to the bed, prepare to find it on your made up bed, nicely folded if you return! The breakfast is included and has more than enough to choose from. Only thing that can be improved is the instant coffee. All in all a really nice hotel and it has everything in the old center within a 10 minute walking range.To conclude that a stay at Do Carmo doesn't cost you the world I can really recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy your holiday on Madeira!

Great hotel with friendly staff. We stayed for 5 nights and the location is close to bus stops, amenities, old town and the main city center.
We used the pool a few times on the roof and the hotel offers a nice terrace.
Breakfast is ok, small choice of hot food but there are cereals, breads, yogurt and ham.
