this is actually the same as "Castelo de Sao Jorge" - go look at that one instead! if you have any document proving you're a lisbon resident you can waive the arguably expensive $8.5 fee (yes, get in for free!). there isn't much inside, but it might still worth it. it's hardly a castle as there are no rooms, about 3 sightseeing sites, and floors are slippery - like most of Lisbon. on the bright side... there are the lovely screaming and flying active peacocks, lots of windy sightseeing high walls and 3 quite interesting guided visits (included in the price of course) which you need to get early enough (last visit usually around 16h) and within the schedule: a camera obscura room, a guided tour through the walls and an archeological site with 3 different epochs dating back up to the iron age (400 ad). there are still many castle aspects visible for free on the outside, including a little hostel which has a sightseeing tower almost inside the castle.

You have to pay an overpriced entrance and is not able to go inside the Castle as there is a restaurant inside. It's a sightseeing place as any other in Lisboa.

Not advisable for anyone who would struggle with a lot of uneven surfaces and steps. Suitable footwear is a must! I slipped over a lot as I wore sandals. Really great views across Lisbon. 8.50 for an adult ticket. Queues for the camera obscura.

A good opportunity to see the castle walls from the attacker's point of view. Shaded by olive trees and hosting a number of peacocks, well worth a stroll after you've made the climb.
