Excellent hotel, staff very friendly and helpful - we were unexpectedly upgraded to a suite, as well as some free bubbly, as it was our honeymoon. Rooms are very nice, modern clean and functional. Easy to use central console for all the lighting, blinds etc. And a great shower age huge bath, particularity liked the waterfall taps everywhere.
The rooftop bar was great too, excellent cocktails (some unique ones), amazing view, and a jacuzzi along one side of the roof (looking towards the hills) and the pool along another side, looking over towards the sea.
Very good spa, the couple's retreat was great, over 2 hours and 4 treatments, pricey but worth it.
Breakfast excellent, good range of hot and cold food on the buffet, plus more you can request, with some variation each day.
There's a gym too but we never made it down there!
Overall one of the best hotels we've stayed in, both in terms of service and room quality. No compromises on anything either, which is nice, and the staff can't do enough to help you.

Great hotel for your stay in Funchal, good to explore the city by feet. The common areas are beautiful and nice, the hotel is dark, which was good for me since it gave me a relaxing feeling. The staff was friendly welcoming at all times and the pool are is a must go.
My only negative comment is about the rooms, they need some minor renovations for a more refined look.

Great hotel, new, classic, in the quiet center of Funchal. Clean rooms, everything is new, wonderful place to stay.
Great breakfast, not so much diversity.
A lovely Spa with saunas and Jacuzzi.
Very recommended, prices are very fair

Modern hotel with good rooms and good service. The rooftop swimming pool is neat, but so packed with sun beds and chairs that leave little of the view. There are better places for swimming pool with stunning views ...

I stayed at The Vine in early March and it was a pleasant hotel with very good service from the staff. The hotel is centrally located but quiet which is perhaps its best selling point. The environment and feel are both very good with clean rooms, extensive breakfast choices, comfortable beds, a panoramic pool on the roof and affordable drinks. It's also relatively small so there aren't hundreds of guests at once. WiFi worked fine for us both around the hotel and in our room and the only down side was the air conditioning which did work but wasn't adjustable. Overall a very comfortable stay and happy to recommend.
