Our first stay at this hotel and so far haven't been disappointed. The staff are very professional and focused - you can see the attention to detail is very important - from reception to restaurants to bar staff to room cleaners they are all drilled to work to a high standard. Our room is very spacious and well equipped plus we have a veranda. There is entertainment every night with dancing if you want to get up and do your stuff. The hotel itself has several restaurants and two pools on different levels all the way down to sea level - is very clean, light and airy with a modern feel plus there are great views of Funchal if you choose the right spot. There is also a free coach service into Funchal that runs on a regular basis during the day that is available if you want to get into the town centre. We hired a car through the hotel and they got us an excellent deal with the car delivered to our door. One night we ordered room service and they brought our meals on a table right to our room - really excellent service. We don't really have any complaints other than our room was described by the agent as having a 'garden view' which it doesn't really - as it's at the front of the hotel and therefore has one of the worst views and is more noisy, however the hotel describes the room as being one with a 'land view', which is more accurate - so be careful when booking as we would have preferred a better view but I guess that was why we got such a good deal

Excellent hotel, where service ftom all members of staff is five star. Lovely airy big bedrooms, very good delicious evening themed buffets in Rose Garden restaurant, house wine particularly good and very good promotion available to buy vouchers to obtain a discount over period of stay. Beautiful, well kept gardens and plenty of sunbeds in spa and around pool both upstairs and at sea level. Lots of quiet areas, hotel was almost full but never felt crowded. The icing on the cake, the two star Michelin Restaurant

I love it here, that is why Clare and me come back each year. This is a 5* Hotel and lives up to that standard. All the staff are so accommodating, friendly and helpful. We haven't eaten in Michelin star restaurant yet, maybe next year, but all the food we have eaten here was excellent! Not a place if you want a beach, you drop directly into the Ocean.

Beautiful spa hotel, lovely staff. Very upscale in every way. Wish I had the chance to spend more time at the hotel!! Went for a facial and massage and it was absolutely brilliant- a well needed relax.
