Room was large, washroom was modern, staff polite and patient but hallway adjacent to entrance door smelt like a combination of garbage and fish market.

Overall a terrible experience. We arrived shortly before check-in time and were told our room would not be ready for more than hour. After walking around the downtown area for over an hour (not much to see) we arrived back at the hotel and were informed the room wasn't ready, at which point we were invited to have a complimentary drink in the restaurant. The server was not informed of this, and had to go off to confirm with the manager (the drink was comped). When we got to our room, it had been cleaned, but smelled very strongly of cleaning solution. We were told before booking that complimentary spa service and airport shuttle were included with our room rate...they were not. We were presented with a 10% off discount to the neighbouring spa and informed that we had to pay for the airport shuttle. The front desk staff mentioned it was mandatory to arrive at the airport two hours before flight, which was false, as it was only one hour (thank god we double-checked, as we were flying out at 6am). After arriving back at the hotel for an early night, we could clearly hear people outside of our window talking and drinking the entire night, which made getting to sleep very troublesome. Just when things couldn't get much worse, a band equipped with a drum set and electric guitar began playing at 11pm directly outside the window (not joking). The band managed to wake up a baby down the hall, who promptly began screaming. All in all this was a terrible experience, which was amplified by the fantastic experience we had previously enjoyed in Lagos. I would not recommend Aqua Ria, nor would I consider staying there again.
