Heerlijke gerechten voor een heel mooie prijs! Heel leuke en goede bediening. Parkeren voor de deur. Op vrijdag wel even reserveren, het is sowieso altijd goed gevuld met gasten.

Tussen de middag een kinderijsje willen bestellen maar omdat men het in de keuken te druk had met de voorbereidingen konden we alleen wat fris bestellen. Nog nooit zo’n klant onvriendelijkheid mee gemaakt.

The high tea was awesome! First some buns with fish, meat or fish and meat, then this plate of sweetness. It was all very tasty. And unlimited tea and coffee!

Guulke has a vintage atmosphere, recalling local history, which gives the place an identity. While I would like to love this place, I can't bring myself to rate it that high.
The main reason for that is that while this place is good for lunch, dinner has been a disappointment of sorts several times. Dishes don't feel that well thought out or aren't served as specified on the menu. The food certainly isn't bad, it's quite tasty in fact but it lacks a certain zest or personal touch which would make it stand out. Combine that with the rather long wait in the evening, I just don't feel the price is entirely justified.
That's a shame, because the location and atmosphere are good so in my opinion Guulke doesn't live up to its full potential.
