Authentic Indonesian. Go a la carte, ask them not to hold back with the chili. Amazing curry soup, wonderful fish with basil and the owners really went the extra mile.

Despite the good reviews we have read, we found the "Sir Stamford Raffles" Restaurant below average. The restaurant enjoys great ambience, serves its food in good cutlery in a setting that can be classified as Indonesian "fine dining", if indeed there was such a thing, on the expensive side of the scale. The food had Indonesian influence, but certainly lacks in its authenticity.
We had the "Raffles" set meal. The vegetables: gado gado was not authentic, sayur lodeh lacks in its taste while the sate was too salty. Soto ayam offers a hint of what the taste was supposed to be. The chicken and beef dishes were OK. Apart from the owner, the "service" offered was close to zero, making our experience at the Sir Stamford Raffles a bad one. For the kind of money that was charged, we are better off going somewhere else.
