Achtung Mexiko Ausreisesteuer: 500Pesos pro Person Ausreisesteuer wird dort verlangt und zwar BAR!!! Der nächste Bankomat ATM ist etwa 10minuten zu Fuss entfernt. Am besten die Angestellten fragen wo er ist.
Achtung: Schaut das ihr nicht mehr zu viel Pesos habt. Der Wechselkurs welcher die Crew auf dem Boot anbietet und anpreisst ist grotten schlecht. Wir gingen auf Caye Caulker, dort gibt es einen ATM der bei uns nur Master Card und VISA akzeptierte. War aber immer noch günstiger als der Wechselkurs auf der Fähre. Auf der Insel wird häufig auch Creditkarte akzeptiert. (Restaurant, Supermarkt, Tours...)
Am Hafen in San Pedro wo die immigration ist muss man noch einmal zahlen. 2.5 BelizeDollar Hafensteuer. Man kann auch mit USD bezahlen, aber auch hier zu einem schlechten kurs. (1.5 USD)

The price is 50USD but there you are charged of an immigration fee of 500pesos (25USD)... there is no immigration fee in mexico exept there ! More over, we had to arrive at 2pm but finaly the vessel started at 4pm without any reason (good weather and good conditions...just waiting for additional passenger to complete the vessel)... finally i arrived to caye caulker at 7pm (=8pm in chetumal). Knowing this, my advice to all tourists is to avoid this and take the bus.

Just passed through this border, 55 USD becomes 60 USD including tax for the boat ticket. Tourist (FMM) immigration fee (500 pesos) is charged here but it was included in our inbound airline ticket (and we brought proof after reading a bunch of warnings online) so no extra charge. They will ask for the fee as a standard request though so don't freak out.

You have to pay way too much to get to caye caulker - 55 us d for the ferry, then the mexican borders charge you 500 pesos even though they are not allowed to. I would never again go to caye caulker from chetumal, its better to go on wirh buses to corazal...

We booked a return ticket Chetumal - Caye Caulker with San Pedro Water Taxi via internet ($ 130 per person). The return trip was cancelled because of the weather conditions. As we had to catch the international flight from Cancun we had to take the plane instead of the water taxi. There was no way that we could get (at least a partial) refund. The only option that San Pedro water taxi gave us was to wait an extra two days.
