Great value for money. Victorian era building. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Really enjoyed my stay here but understand from friends that it now closed

I loved my Holliday here and the hotel just made it an even better atmosphere!!! :)

Lovely old hotel with an elegant entrance reception, good facilities and excellent staff.
I had a 3 week holiday in January 2014, (my second visit) and enjoyed it so much I returned again in October taking two of my friends. I booked half board again not realising that the dinner arrangements had been changed since my last visit, and for the worst! Instead of the silver service at dinner served by excellent staff it is now self service ( buffet service) but it reminded me of school dinners and was about as appetising. Food was luke warm at best and the soup (best part of the dinner) had to be returned for reheating on several occasions. We tried going into dinner at varying times but it made no difference and was so disappointing. Previously there had been such a good atmosphere in the dining room and afterwards most people retired to the delightful bar area for drinks or coffee, this made it a very sociable evening, On this last visit there were few people in the dining room and hardly anyone in the bar as most of the residents went out for the evening - such a shame.
If I were to go again it would be on a B & B basis only, but as a single traveller I did enjoy the convivial atmosphere that a silver service Hotel provides.
