Simple, no frills accommodation. Even though it is a hostel, it comes with individual private rooms. They may be small, but perfect for solo travelers. It is about a 10-15min walk from Ishikawacho Station, which may be a consideration for those with a lot of luggage. Rooms are on the 4th and 5th floors, though there are no elevators, which may not be suitable for some. Staff are very friendly, and there are various staff around that can speak English if needed. Will definitely visit again if I am back.

amenities - you get a private room with a full tatami-and-futon setup, with a TV and a mini-fridge. soap and shampoo are in the showers but you have to bring your own towel or buy one. shower pressure is great and showers and toilets are clean.

location - bit of a distance from the city centre but near chinatown. this works out because you can head out early to the city centre and the waterfront and make your way back to chinatown for neon lights and dinner. the hostel rents out bicycles (¥500 for 24h) which is a great way of getting around the city.

building is old (like pre-washlet old!) but clean. i found it charming. there's a rooftop garden for smokers and lovers and a small kitchen area on the 5th floor with utensils and condiments if you want to make your own food. staff are friendly and laid-back.

yokohama is a beautiful city and i hope to return soon. when i do i'd like to stay again at yokohama hostel village.

Loved our stay! A bit smelly, a bit dirty but you get so much for your money. A fridge and TV in your room. A common kitchen and a rooftop chill area. Stayed for 21 days.
The hotel rooms are on the other side of the street while the reception and common room is where the google maps marker is at.
The area around the hotel is rich with shops and food. The hotel is extremely run down but you get so much for your money that it did not matter at all. The mattresses are thin but you get used to it. I think we had a balcony, but the smell from outside made us not want to open the window. The rooms smells badly when you turn off the AC for a day or two. We had to buy bad smell killers at the nearby 100 yen Daiso store (which is larger and better than any I have been to). If you don't go to Chinatown there is a normal shopping street about 10min walk with Arcades, Donkihote, 100¥ shops, Coco Ichibanya and a lot more. I did not like Chinatown at all so this other was great.
The common bath the hotel recommends is a bit scary but really pleasant as everyone I met with in the bath where heavily tattooed, but they where really social and fun to talk with.

The problem with cheap hotels are that the price tag lures idiots to the hotel. Examples: one hotel guest did not know how to use the shower properly so we had a indoor bath every day for his period of stay, he strutted out from the shower like everything was in order. A girl in the girls bathroom refused to sit down while peeing so during her stay the toilet had pee everywhere. Again, she had the facial expression that this is normal.

Would not recommend this hotel to families with kids.

I loved my stay and I will vist this hotel again.

Arrived for check in. The staff was helpful and I was able to get to my room from the given map.

The location was handy very close to Chinatown, the staff we're incredibly friendly. I thought I was welcome and felt like part of the crew when I was invited to eat and drink with everyone! I was given recommendations that the staff were fond off, and was helped around the city as well by staff. The rooms were adequate, but for sleeping only, not big enough to hang out. There was a 24 hour roof garden and 24 hour entry too, as well as bicycle rental and amenities like shared kitchen, shared showers, laundry and common areas. I loved my experience here very much and can reccommend it without hesitation for anyone looking for a cheap place to crash at night with friendly staff!
