We were shopping for tea in the basement food hall of the department store in the early evening of 1 October 2017 when we met the most delightful young woman who greatly assisted us in the purchase of two varieties of green tea (one from Uji). Although we have only acquired a small amount of Japanese language skills and although this charming young woman spoke only a small amount of English (as my husband and I are Australian) she was able to really enhance our experience of buying the tea and explaining the best way to prepare the different types. I only hope that the store appreciates her as she is a real asset to the business. In order to assist with her identification the numbers on our docket were 2017/10/01 18:08 10 0011 98541 9999. Ah Isetan. The best service staff in the world. Polite, attentive, knowledgeable and always unobtrusive. Cashiers wear white gloves and offer to wrap your purchases in paper before bagging them in their signature green tartan paper bags. How civilised.

Super fancy multilevel department store. I love food so was absolutely enthralled with all the variety and options!! Great place to come to pick out a bunch of different things for a picnic. In terms of clothes and other home goods, it's expensive and designer but it's fun to look. Kimono section was also beautiful! :)

Very busy, but the food section in the basement is hard to beat, especially for anyone interested in whisky and other hard liquors. Many Japanese distilleries have special bottlings for department stores and they'd generally be available here. There's also also a tasting bar (pay-per-taste) that's excellent value if you're looking to try before you buy.
