some confusion about booking - whether this Excel or the next door Urban hotel - I'm guessing the same owner - my booking sent me an email with 'Urban' in the heading but 'Excel' in the body text - it turned out to be Excel. Parking is extra cost. Breakfast sounded overpriced at 1940 when we had an excellent b/fast at another hotel the day before at 1200 with 50 choices including chef omelet, etc. I've just found out there may be a hot tub but it wasn't clearly promoted so I missed it - a bit annoyed as I would have liked one last night.

New hotel. Conveniently located near Matsue train station. Hotel staffs are well trained and friendly.

This is a very nice hotel in Matsue. It appears to be quite new and was very clean. The rooms are on the small side but pretty typical of rooms I've seen so far in Japan (which isn't that many). The front desk employees are very helpful and try their best to solve your problems. Their English is good, some better than others.
The breakfast, if it isn't included, is ~1900 Yen which is a bit pricey. I recommend walking nearby to the Urban hotel that has a nice breakfast for half the price.
If you sign up as a Tokyu Comfort member you should be able to get 10-15% off of your room rate which is also nice. As at the front desk.
It is across the street from the Matsue train station. To get from the train station to the hotel, take the escalator downstairs (underground) as soon as you walk outside. Then walk all the way until the end and walk up the spiral ramp or take the stairs/elevator and you'll come out on the other side of the road just a half a block from the Matsue Excel Hotel.
