An amazing train station. Museums, many floors of restaurants, concert venues, department stores, high class hotel, information booths, English speaking Tourist Information Centers, maps, bus station.

This is the best and most elegant train station I have seen in all of Japan (and I've been to stations from Sapporo down to Fukuoka). The way it is designed is so open and inviting. If you go to the roof, you can see quite a bit of Kyoto (it's dark at night, so it seems couple's like to go there! 😂)

Plenty of activities ranging from the mall to the light show to the ramen mall. There is also a beautiful sky garden, which offers stunning views panoramic views of Kyoto. Just like the rest of Kyoto, clean as you like.

I have been in Kyoto for 3 days and got lost in this station each day. Somehow I have managed to leave on the wrong side every time. I added an extra star for the extremely helpful and attentive staff.

Modern, beautiful, and huge. Access to countless stores, restaurants, shopping, local trains, Shinkansen, and hotels. It can be a little confusing finding your way around but everyone who worked here was very helpful.
