Wonderful Kyoto cuisine! Very friendly to foreigners despite the chief and the lady doesn't speak English very well. If you speak Japanese, this is the place that you must come after visiting Nijo Castle. Thanks so much for the kind host; very lovely experience in Kyoto.

Super recommend if you love fresh seafood and great hosts. The lady and man didn't understand much English but she was using translator to explain every dish to us - so lovely!
As we wondered down the dark alleyway looking for food, we stumbled upon this place. What a great discovery! The shop owners were so kind, taking our coat and turning on the heater for our legs. Then we ordered a blind course and he made the dishes live in front of us. Great experience and very fresh seafood!

My friends were all about this place. There is one man handling the kitchen and although he doesn't know much English he did help us out. When reading the menu via Google Translate (thanks Overlords!) I did find out that there were two different versions of the "all-you-can-drink" menus. We did not have all-you-can-drink, the dude cut us off at 5 Sake (we were 4 people) and was quickly to take our monies and ask us to leave. I get it, we're 4 Americans who don't know the language, but I'm giving you 4 out 5 stars here my Japanese-Brotha-man.
