Gem close to Shin-Kobe station! The display of the exhibition and the house itself is worth the visit. One of the highlights of my trip in Japan, mostly because of my interest in wood!

Excellent historical displays. Even better as we had one of the senior curators providing a personal explanation and demonstration to our tour group

Great museum of you're interested in Japanese tools and their history.
There is a full tea house "naked" and a temple column sample.

Carpentry Museum in the beautiful modern Japanese architecture 5 min from Bullet train (Shin-Kobe) station. Amazing display of 1300 year old "nail-less" method of building, which is still being practiced.

Fantastic museum! So much information which is all displayed beautifully. And the entrance fee is very reasonable. Excellent English guide that is both audio and visual on a little iPad which is free to rent for your visit. A very relaxing setting too, make time to just sit upstairs and look out at the garden. My favorite part was the partially constructed teahouse. This is one of the best museums I've seen in Japan.
