Absolutely breath taking, we timed it perfectly visiting the day after golden week and the wisteria were in full bloom. Hire a car and go early (before 10am) to avoid the tourist buses. Buy your ticket from a convenience store beforehand to guarantee entry despite the crowds. Must do early May in Japan

Came here on 6 may 17. Full bloom. Lovely place. Lovely aroma. Kind of a jasmine aroma. Many types of colour. The one thing i regret was getting late. Arrived at kokura at 7.15, got to yahata few minutes after 7.30, and the free shuttle bus depart in 9 am. Didn't want to wait so long, walked 8 km. The view along the walk was magnificent. Private cars passing by, and also the first shuttle bus. By the time i got there around 9.15, a lot of people have flocked the garden. Can't take a clear good shot without any person in the shot. Just get to the park as early as possible. Don't forget to check the weather, as the rain might falling like this morning

Went during the first week of May, during the morning slot (8-10am). Lots of space to take beautiful pictures, and the weather was lovely. The best part about the gardens (apart from the flowers): the smell!!!

Gorgeous garden. A visit during wisteria season is a must when visiting kyushu. Shuttle bus from yahata station was much appreciated.

We went on 04/22/2017 and we paid only ¥500 entrance :-( ... so no blooming of flower yet; quite disappointing. They have free shuttle pick up and drop off from/to JR Yahata station on weekend. The settings of racks are looking good. Other than that the surround nature is pretty good.
