The chef or waiter, not sure what he was was very rude with me and my boyfriend, just because of our dress code. He looked us and told that service was going to close in1 hour, avoiding us to have dinner there. Shame on people and places like this that judge people like that and just to explain, we were wearing normal cloths of tourists ( t shirt, shorts) normal. Very very image from Venice and Italians service!!!!!

We were running from a rain which started pouring down on us. The Chef came to the door and looked at us from upside down with disdain and told us that we had 45 min to order and leave the restaurant. Since we had that rain pouring down on us we ordered some fried seafood and some drinks to leave soon.
They served us hair on the food. Disgusting. Don't even think about stopping by.

Went for a late dinner tonight and it was amazing! Had the amatriciana pasta and it blew my mind! The pasta was made in house as was everything else. The rest of the dishes everyone else ordered were really good but the amatriciana was definitely the best. Had the pear with ricotta ice cream for dessert and it was fabulous. Planning on going again tomorrow for dinner!! Also, service was good and friendly!

After visiting the impressive church Madonna dell’Orto and Tinoretto's house near Campo dei Mori you should avoid a visit in the Osteria L'Orto dei Mori. We sat quite a while outside watching the waiter and the chef ignoring us. When he finally arrived at the table his first and only word was: "Lunch!". I have to confess my Italian is not very good but I am rather sure that wasn't an address of welcome. It was about 2.30 p.m. and I explained, that we don't want to have lunch at this time of day but that we would like to have something to drink. This was fine in several restaurants in different parts of Venice during the last three days but not in the Osteria L'Orto dei Mori. The chef barked at us, that this is a restaurant and if we only want to drink we must move somewhere else because here all the guests are eating. Obviously, this applied only for us, because at the next table a man was reading a newspaper and thinking only mineral water. We didn’t make the effort to find out if the chef had something against women, tourists or Austrians. We looked for another restaurant, something I recommend to anyone who intends to visit the Osteria L'Orto dei Mori.

Well prepared fresh local affair, slightly off the beaten path. We enjoyed the Mediterranean stew and the Amatriciana (bacon and tomato) pasta. Both carefully prepared, interesting and delicious. We finished the meal with a red wine pear with ricotta cheese ice cream. Highly recommended if you are looking for something high quality and more than the touristy norm!
