Muscle soup was fresh but about half the shells were empty. Grouper stew was also fresh but the bread was hard and dry. Brought wine and water and just left on table without pouring into the glass - did not even open the bottle. That's a first.

I’d say the food was good. The beer was great, big bottle cold and refreshing. The fried calamari and shrimp dish was good, light so not heavy and not greasy. Big pieces of calamari cut into strips not rings. And shrimps had the heads cut off. Nice and light. For the reviews I had read before I was expecting worse, but it was what we expected for a touristy location and town (cinqueterre is very touristy). The trofie pesto pasta was also what was expected. Very simple. Had to try it as it’s the thing to do here. Probably could have made better at home, as it was simple. 12 Euro was the price for it, compared to next door Grotto which had the 12 Euro crossed off and increased to 14 Euro.
Overall nice service and good meal.

The octopus salad was the best seafood that my wife and I had in Italy. I rarely eat octopus except for on Christmas Eve (my wife is Italian) because I don't like it but I have only great things to say about Il Grottino.

Great restaurant. We ordered 2 pasta dishes, one the marinara - was loaded with fresh seafood, and the other the ravioli with ragu. Food came out quickly, service was good, food was really tasty, would definitely recommend.

A pretty darn good grilled fish - I believe Sea Bass, with a Forst beer. Meal costs around 18€ + beer + the espresso I will inevitably consume. I'd say for 25€ this is a good meal that will not disappoint. I also saw other plates come out which looked great. I would eat here again if I wasn't trying to go to multiple restaurants. You will be just fine with this place if you're looking for a solid meal.
